Save public schools Re: Oct. 5 article, “Shift in leaders shakes Senate.” Texas public schools took massive cuts the last time our Legislature met. For anyone who thought that public schools would get some help from this upcoming legislative session, you’ve got another thing coming. Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst has appointed Sen. Dan Patrick from Houston to head the Senate Education Committee. Patrick is for vouchers, which will undermine public schools even more. More money leaves the schools, and classrooms will get bigger.
